Home to big and small coffee companies and roasters, it’s no secret that Seattle is one of the most caffeinated cities in the country. This year one of our city’s best independent roasters, Fonté Coffee, will celebrate it’s 20th anniversary.
Founded in 1992 by Paul Odom, the Georgetown based roaster focuses on single origin and specialty coffees and teas for local cafes, retailers, restaurants and hotels. Odom and master roaster Steve Smith are committed to creating artisan coffee, one cup at a time.
In 2009, Fonté Coffee opened it’s first store café front in the heart of downtown Seattle where guests can purchase beans and handcrafted coffee drinks. The European-style café not only serves coffee but also wine and a full menu (from breakfast to dinner) and is the perfect stop for a quick lunch on the go or a relaxing break from site seeing.
The roaster is also very involved in local charitable organizations including their yearly “Coffee For a Cause” campaign. Each year the coffee company donates the proceeds from the sale of their specialty roasted “Holiday Blend” to a charity. The 2011 blend raised $11,000 and was donated to Pike Market Child Care & Preschool, which will underwrite school supplies for the entire year.
Visit the Café at 1321 First Avenue (inside the Four Seasons Hotel).
